Parnell Square Cultural Quarter project sponsor, Brendan Kenny, Assistant Chief Executive, Dublin City Council, presented a project update report to the Council’s Arts, Culture, Recreation and Community Strategic Policy Committee meeting on 11th May 2015.

The Parnell Square City Library report is now available to read online. The report outlines our vision for the spaces to be created, the works so far, the project structure and budget and the current project programme to completion in 2019.

The Arts, Culture, Leisure and Community Strategic Policy Committee oversees the work of the Culture, Recreation, Amenity and Community Department in Dublin City Council. The committee is chaired by Councillor Mary Freehill.

Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs) were set up under Section 48 of the Local Government Act 2001. Their focus is to develop Policy issues relating to Council services and to liaise with Agencies, Community and Voluntary sectors operating in the City. Each SPC consists of two city councillors for every one representative from a different sector. Policy recommendations from the SPCs are referred to the Full Council, which has the final decision in the exercise of its reserved functions.
